Lea Katherine Thompson

Thompson was born May 31, 1961 in Rochester (Minnesota), [ one of five children born to Clifford Barry Thompson, a musician. Thompson is the older sister of Coleen Goodrich (and Shannon Katona) and two younger brothers, Barry and Andrew. Her mother is Irish. Mikhail Baryshnikov (the director of the artistic department at the time) said to her that she was a great dancer but too stocky. She described that incident as "my epiphany" when she decided to end her dancing career and become an ballet dancer. This was an extremely special moment. If it wasn't for that, I'd have been beating my head against the wall for 10+ years. "[ She switched her focus towards acting. At the age of 20, she moved to New York with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elisabeth Shue and various other Burger King ads.
